Prayer time

I don't know how many of you are Third Day fans. This is one of the newer songs and like all of their songs I love it. I cut some of the lyrics out for precious time's sake. If you have never heard it I am sure you could find it on the web.
It is a great reminder of WHO to cry to when the tears fall. He wants to be the source of our comfort. Cry out to Jesus.

Cry Out To Jesus
by Third Day
album:

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus

When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus

In Paul's 2nd letter to the Corinthians he speaks of some messenger of Satan and refers to it as a "thorn in my side". Starting with Chapter 12 verse 8 "Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:8,9

Hmmm... How many times did I pray a similar prayer? When His grace is sufficient.

My prayer is that all of our soldiers and families would recognize His grace and accept His perfect power in our weakness.

In His grace,
Angie

Heard from Lee this morning. He is well and I hope to talk with him soon. There was a line to use his laptop so he had to use the computer at the internet cafe, thus we still have no pictures right now. Hope to be getting some soon.

Keep praying!!!

Serving others

"An anxious heart wears a man down, but a kind word cheers him up." Proverbs 12:25

All of us have been comforted during hard times before. Isn't it great to receive a phone call, email, note, or a visit from someone with just the right words and at just the right time. Pray that God would put someone on your heart who is anxious that you can give a kind word to and then, (the hard part) do it!! Call them, send them a card or email. Jesus himself said "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Try it and see!! Hang in there girls and boys.

Thank you Tracy S. for this scripture!!

One of my favorites too!! These verses are great

Once again our sweet Paul the Apostle brings with him piles and piles of encouragement. Kelly Hart requested this one - and Tracy and I have talked about the first part about "being content." These few verses say a lot about our situation. Once again, pray these words not only for our soldiers but the people they left behind. We are all in this together. Love yall!!

"for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" Philippians 4:11-13

Lee Barnes is doing well

Just wanted all to know that Lee is doing well. Talked to him this morning. He says the food is good and they are getting time off right now other than the occasional class or meeting. He is in very good spirits and says all of them are about the same. He says tell everyone hello and he loves them so here it goes. " Hello and he loves yall!!" I hope to get some new scripture on soon that we can use in our prayers - I will work on that tonight. I am back at work some this week so I am a little busy. Hope all is well with everyone. May God bless you and keep you safe from harm.

In Him,
Angie

One more thing: The computer is slowly dying and I have another on the way - so more pictures will come after that, they just will not load right now- I will be smart this time and save my email addresses. Thanks for reading everyone!!

I have had a hard time getting these on. I will add as I can. This is Tracy and Tracy simpler with Malinn and Gavin Kostalecky prior to their departure this past Sunday.

"As iron Sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" Proverbs 27:17
May all of the men, families, and friends continue to pray for one another and hold each other accountable for their words and actions.

Heard from our boy!!

I just heard from Lee by email and he is doing good -it was 10:14 pm there and 2:14 pm here so there's the difference. There is internet there 24 hours a day so they should have good communication as long as they are not "in the field" I guess. Keep praying.

Hope for the day: "Those who sow tears will reap with songs of joy" Psalms 126:5. My prayer is that all of our tears will reap songs of joy and soon.

Holding the fort down in Troy,
Angie

They are There!!

Thanks Jamila Grace for letting us know!! They have landed safely and are doing good - we hope they are getting some rest.
Glad to know they are doing good. Keep praying for them and us!!

Being Content

I know that it has been a stressful day for all of us . So I think it is time to start thinking positive and look at what is already being done in our lives that can be chalked up to the "good" side.

Already - I see myself starting to back off from the small things that don't matter. I am learning to pause before I react to something negatively and ask myself "Is this going to matter a year from now?" If the answer to that is "no"- it is probably worth putting on a smile and saying "this is going to be ok". And as far as the big stuff goes ( the stuff that will matter in a year -like these guys coming home safe).....
Our prayer verse:

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" Romans 8:28. My prayer is that we will all (soldiers and family) recognize the good things from this very tough situation. Start right now and try to think of something positive that has happened in your life already.

Good can and will come from this. I can tell you that I may not love Lee Barnes more today than I did 2 months ago, but I do know now how much I love him and appreciate him being here. That's a start.

More to come tomorrow....

1/117th sings????

Yes they do. And quite well I might add. This was a small part of the worship service that occured at the Covington Arena Sunday morning prior to their departure. The steps of the arena were filled with lovers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Rest assured these guys know how to worship their God and he is with them every step of the way.

Thanks again Tracy for the picture!!

Grace

One of Paul's favorite words was "grace" He ended many of his letters with "grace be with you." Paul's letters are my favorite place to go to read. He was an encourager. I could use some of that right now, how about all of you? I pray that we all feel God's grace in these hard times.

there are 2 verses today- 2 of my favorites from Philippians. Pray them daily for yourself and your soldier.

"I pray that (Lee and I) would do everything without complaining or arguing, so that we may become blameless and pure children of You without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, and that we would shine like stars in the universe." Philippians 2:14-15 NIV

"I pray that (Lee and I) would not be anxious about anything but in everything through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to You. And that Your peace that transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds to Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Send your favorite verses to me and I'll put them in, Angie lbarnes102@troycable.net

Our first prayer

Please pray for us as we prepare for the departure of our men to Iraq.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" Joshua 1:9 NIV

My prayer for my soldiers:

"Have you not commanded him? I pray that (my soldier) will be strong and courageous. I pray that he will not be terrified or discouraged. For he knows that you, God are with him wherever he goes."
Joshua 1:9

If you have a scripture that is meaningful to you or your soldier please email me and lets put it on. Thanks, Angie lbarnes102@troycable.net

Sometimes we lose sight of what to pray when it comes to intercessory prayer. I believe the best place to start is with God's own words back to him.

This blog will be used to post scripture to pray for 1/117th of the National Guard based out of Andalusia, Al. Please use the words here to pray for all of our men and women who are fighting for your freedom to pray. May God bring them home to this peace loving nation safely.
